Spider Veins
Melanie Nukala, MD, vascular surgeon, discusses spider veins.
What is the difference between varicose veins and spider veins?
Spider veins are mostly cosmetic. You can see these tiny little areas across your leg. You can inject those, but varicose veins are the larger superficial veins of the legs that can become ropey where we actually need to do a bigger procedure to take care of it.
How can you prevent spider veins?
They’re never going to cause a problem or harm you. You can wear compression stockings, and the constant pressure of the stockings helps. The injections help cosmetically.
